New York Insight — 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

By This Light offers an evening of meditation and chanting, celebrating Nina’s new album By This Light, a collection of Buddhist chants and blessings. Through guided meditation, teachings on Buddhist chants that can be easily incorporated into your practice, and opportunities to gently sing along, participants will experience the power of sound as a spiritual anchor.

You’ll leave with a greater sense of ease and well-being, simple chanting practices to bring into daily life, and a deeper sense of inner calm and belonging.

Join us to reconnect with the heart of your practice and rediscover the transformative power of sacred sound.

What Just Happened

Daunted by the news of the world? Come relieve your heart and mind as Nina gets up on stage and through movement infused storytelling conveys the personal, political and social events that have transpired over the past 24 hours with striking insight and her always unpredictable rendition of life on planet earth. She has been described as a cross between Lily Tomlin, the Dalai Lama and Jules Feiffer. And audiences repeatedly report they have never seen anything quite like one of her performances before — that they are at one instant laughing so hard they are falling off their seats and the next moment moved to tears. Don’t miss this soulful entertainer whose work is steeped in wisdom, compassion and humor.

“At the heart of this piece is a redemptive message: that the small acts and hopes of individuals can stand against the overwhelming events of history.”

— San Francisco Chronicle

“No mere talking head, Wise possesses a supple physique, prodigious energy, and nerve with which to render the shapes and souls of things. Lovingkindness abounds in her work.”

— Village Voice, New York
